Meet our faculty

Leslie Korn | PhD, MPH, LMHC, ACS., FNTP

Leslie is a leading voice in the field of Integrative Medicine with a focus on mental health, trauma and chronic illness. She is licensed in psychotherapy, and certified in 2 forms of bodywork. She did her academic training at Harvard Medical School, was clinical director at the New England School of Acupuncture, supervision faculty at Harvard Medical school, faculty at 2 Naturopathic Universities and was the founder of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. She directed a graduate-level certification program for over 20 years in Mexico and the US. She is National Board Certified in Clinical Supervision, and is a Functional Nutrition Practitioner. She has published 9 books, including two textbooks. Her courses in Integrative Medicine have trained over 15,000 professionals. Her passion is in mentoring professionals in their careers in Integrative Medicine. Leslie has worked with her therapy dogs for over 25 years, and enjoys cooking and working out.

James Lake | MD

James Lake, M.D., is a Board-certified psychiatrist who completed residency training in psychiatry at Stanford University Hospital. He has served as a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at Stanford and is currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He founded and chaired the American Psychiatric Association’s Caucus on Complementary, Alternative and Integrative Mental Health Care from 2004-2010 and is also a founding member and former chair of the International Network of Integrative Mental Health. Lake has published peer-reviewed articles and chapters on integrative medicine and psychiatry. He is the author or editor of four textbooks—Chinese Medical Psychiatry: A Clinical Manual, (with Bob Flaws); Textbook of Integrative Mental Health Care; Complementary and Alternative Treatments in Mental Health Care (co-edited with David Spiegel); and Integrative Mental Health Care: A Therapist’s Handbook. His most recent writing project is a series of 10 e-books on integrative mental health care. His long-standing research interests include the role of culture in mental illness, the philosophy and history of medicine, and the role of consciousness and intentionality in healing.

Mary Ann Osborne | DNP, FNP

Dr. Mary Ann Osborne, F.N.P., D.N.P. is an Integrative Medicine Nurse practitioner. She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1986. In 2001, she became the first Nurse Practitioner to graduate from the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Mary Ann was born in North Carolina and later joined the Army Nurse Corps where she served across the nation and overseas for 21 years. She obtained a Master’s in Science at the University of South Carolina with a focus as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Mary Ann graduated from the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of Colorado Denver.

Candace Chaney | PhD, RN-CHPN

Candace has been a practitioner of Complementary and Integrative Wellness therapies for over 20 years. She directs New Focus Therapies and Consulting, and consults with the National Institutes of Health on funded research in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). She is Director of Comfort Therapies, providing integrated CAM for patients receiving hospice care at Assured Hospice/LHC Group in WA. She consults with the Integrative Palliative Care Institute, and works with the WA State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Keitha Wright | PhD, LMHC, CMHIMP

Keitha has a Ph.D. in Counseling Studies and an M.S. degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, an M.A. degree in Liberal Studies from Duke University and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies. She has a BS in Business and Management. Dr. Wright has worked for several Fortune 500 companies during the course of her corporate career. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for online business and distance education. She is a counselor, coach and consultant.

Virginia Darrow-Menegaz | MS, RDN, CMHIMP

Virginia is a clinical nutritionist with a specialty in integrative and functional nutrition. She is the founding owner of Nutrition for Wellness™. Virginia works with clients and gives presentations for both private government sector organizations such as the Baltimore Sun, the U.S. military, Blue Cross Blue Shield, US Airways, the United States Holocaust Museum, and the Natural Cooking School. Virginia is a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine, Functional Medicine University, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, The American Association of Nutritional Consultants, the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, and the New Medicine for Women Institute, She is a practicing martial artist, who lives in Maryland with her greatest treasures: her husband and their two daughters.

Irma Gutiérrez | PT

Irma Gutierrez is a physiotherapist and certified fitness trainer. She has special experience in prevention and rehabilitation of individuals with chronic diseases.

Her special gift is her attention to innovation movements that can be done anywhere by people at all stages of health.
